With the launch of Shadow-Spun, the first book in The Great Legend Chronicles, less than three months away, Morgan and I have been thinking about our favorite parts of the story  that we are most excited to share with our readers.

Morgan says that one her favorite parts of Shadow-Spun is Marwyna’s practical magic. While the majority of characters in Shadow-Spun use magic for healing, battle, and/or transportation, Marwyna prefers to use her magic for more “practical” things, such as cleaning windows and organizing bookshelves (and floating her tea set around). Morgan loves the way Marwyna’s use of magic stands in contrast to the other characters as well as her “no-nonsense way of being and cheerful wisdom.” In addition to Marwyna’s practical magic, Morgan’s other favorite parts of the book that she looks forward to sharing with our readers are the sparring match between Dragon Maiden and Abavla and portal ships. Morgan likes the sparring match because the scene gave us a chance to show off just how intense a fight between Alarri could be, and she likes portal ships because of way that they blend technology and magic in a way not seen elsewhere in the story.

One of my favorite parts of Shadow-Spun that I cannot wait to share with readers is Dragon Maiden. Of the Alarri that we introduce in Shadow-Spun, Dragon Maiden is easily my favorite. I love her mystery and her dry sense of humor. Another character that I love, and cannot wait to share with readers, is Hegrahn, Abavla’s father. Hegrahn’s character was partially inspired by Morgan and my own paternal grandfather, so he’s always had a special spot amongst the characters for me. While Dragon Maiden and Hegrahn are probably my favorite parts of Shadow-Spun, I also really love the way characters can create weapons made of magic. I have always thought that weapons that are manifestations of some aspect of their wielders were super cool, and I love the way that we incorporated this idea into the world of Siraden.

The parts I have listed here are just a few of the many things that Morgan and I love about Shadow-Spun, which we can’t wait to share when the book launches in April 2021 on Amazon.
