In Soul’s Spiral Solstice witnesses the launch of the Greenstar as it heads out on its twilight flight. In this week’s blog we take a deeper look into the history of this famous portal ship.

The Greenstar was a portal ship in Arvelak’s navy that became famous during the Northern Border War of 1881 of the Second Age, in which Arvelak fought against winged monsters called Potenvoids. During the war, the Greenstar was captained by Captain Jenthis Sweetwind. In 1881, Captain Sweetwind was already a decorated veteran with at least two campaigns under his belt, but it was command of the Greenstar that made the captain famous.

During the Northern Border War, the Greenstar was involved in nineteen major battles and numerous skirmishes. The most famous of these was the Battle of Edorra. When the Potenvoids descended on the Edorra, the Greenstar single-handedly defended the city through a combination of unconventional maneuvers and the use of hit-and-run tactics.

Following the Northern Border War, the Greenstar and her crew went on to fight in several other major conflicts and even spent a brief time as the flagship of Arvelak’s navy. However, after roughly two hundred years of service, the storied portal ship was retired. In the year 2081 of the Second Age the Greenstar made one final voyage from the Leadership City to the shipyards of Taeja Lake, where she was decommissioned in a ceremony that included all the surviving members of the many crews she had housed over her career.
